On April 11, 2012, I became Grandmama! I can not express the
joy that little Brooklyn has brought into our lives, and as I pause to ponder
the events of the last 11 days, I shiver, to think that we nearly lost
her.
"He has made everything beautiful in His time..." Ecc. 3:11
Brooklyn was born at 13:25 (1:25 PM) after Juanita was in
labor nearly 18 hours. But she was born
none too early. As Derrick, who was by Juanita’s
side through it all, the nurses and I were encouraging and trying to be of help
to Juanita, I listened and heard the concerns that Brooklyn may be in distress.
One final push and she was born, given to mommy, for only a few seconds. Little
Brooklyn was grey, limp and not breathing. They quickly took her and started
CPR right there in the room. A fury of
activity was going on, nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists…. You name it
there were there, all working to save our precious little one! All I could do
was pray, make a quick call and send two texts, asking for prayers. Telling Juanita and Derrick that I was going
to get Grandma Cecilia, I left the room.
Once Grandma Cecilia and I were back by the door way, we could still see
that they were working feverishly. Over a period of 10 minutes or so we watched
and listened. Suddenly our hearts were filled with great joy! We heard her
first cry and the rest is history! Enjoy
the pictures of our little miracle baby who is truly a river of joy for her
Mother, Father, and Grandparents!
