March 15 - 20

March, 15 – 20, 2012~

From 30 degrees to 80! Then from 80 degrees back to 30. What a change! No need for the winter jacket in Tennessee or anywhere in the South!  This trip we also went exploring and visited a couple of states we’d never been to! That was delightful, but the highlight of the trip was our visit with La’Quon!

Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       Hugs from La'Quon!
2.       A safe trip!
3.       Rental Cars! This time we got a free upgrade, it was a new Honda Civic with extra features that saved on gas mileage! Every little bit helps!
4.       The diverse beauty we see as we travel in different states! We also discovered that in West Virginia, while you are driving, you are either going up, down, and/or around a curve!
5.       My camera, to capture at least a few of the memories! Enjoy….
Trees, trees, and more trees....just about ready to leaf out.

Ok, La'Quon, enough pictures!

This way....pretty blue sky......

But this way....I think a storm is brewing!

Time to say good-bye...

One final..."funny" moment La'Quon! I still have eyes in the back of my head!
More pictures to come....

Much to my disappointment, as I was uploading more pictures to this post, I broke my flash drive that hd the pictures on it. So....until I am able to find someone to fix it, at at reasonable price, I will just have the pictures in my memory.

March 13

March 13, 2012 ~
Ok, now it is four nights in a row! I believe we had a record setting day, or at least we  close. Whatever the case I know we had one of the busiest nights ever! One good thing about it, it makes the night fly by!
All night I watched as the snow piled up outside, all the while wondering, well I make it home? The answer to that is yes! I was welcomed home with six plus inches of snow and no electricity. No problem for one who has worked all night! All I needed, I had!
Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       I made it home safe and sound!
2.       I have a comfortable, not too hard, and not to soft bed!
3.       Upon that bed are warm flannel sheets!
4.       Covering those sheets are special blankets, one is nearly 28 years old (a wedding gift,) a quilt made especially for Ron and I by my Nana, and on top a huge fleece blanket made for us by Nathan. Ahhh…..I feel nice and warm just thinking about it!
5.       Last but not least, a pair of socks! You may ask, “Why socks?” Ah, to keep my feet warm when they hit that cold wooden floor when I am ready to get out of bed!  ~Smile

Psalm 8

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infant
You have established a stronghold against your enemies,
To silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
The work of your fingers, the moon and the stars,
Which you have set in place,
What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
Human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
And crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
You put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds,
And the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky,
And the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       Whew, three nights in a row and one registration staff short! I think we are ready for a slow night tonight…but, as before, I am thankful for how quickly the night goes by!
2.       Thanks to great co-workers, we made it through!
3.       Special thanks to Linda and Sharon!
4.       One thing I like about my shift, I love the beauty of the night sky, when there are no clouds, which was the case today!
5.       Sleep, here  I come!!!

March 11

 March 11, 2012 ~

Watching the birds feed at the feeder was rather amusing today! I noticed that there were new little birds at the feeder, and they are not shy! When the Oregon Junco’s came flying up to the feeder, the little birds fluffed up their little wings and scared them away. Well, from the feeder that is. But maybe the Junco’s are the smarter bird. One comes and makes a ruckus, then the others fly down to the ground because they know this will cause more seeds to fall to the ground. Reminds me of Romans 8:28:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Happy For A Reason Reasons:

1.       Time change last night. What fun to see the hour hand speed ahead to 3:00am!

2.       I actually thought it would be a slower night at work last night, not the case. Another busy night, to make the time fly by. Nothing like a busy night added to a time change to make the night fly by.

3.       Another lovely meal made by Ron who….

4.       Let me sleep all day long, or try to sleep. I actually got a whole 5 hours of sleep!

5.       The lessons  learned at my bird feeder today.

Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       What a night! I hit the floor running and never stopped until 2:30 am, then it was a slow,  but steady pace. So why am I happy about that? The night was nearly over before I knew it!
2.       This past week has been full of blessings…especially having a roof on the green house! It sure makes a world of difference!
3.       A lovely meal fixed by my dear husband!
4.       All my needs supplied!
5.       It is Sabbath!

March 8, 2012 ~
Live everyday as if it is your last….Wherever you are, whatever you do, see how you can make your country, work place, home, church, etc. a better place right now.
Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       A beautiful sunrise!

2.       A connection with former acquaintances via blogging!

3.       Juanita came along to help Grams sort and unpack. I didn’t know Juanita was such a hand with tools!

4.       Juanita was able to get the audio tape that was stuck in Mother’s van out!

5.       Pictures that capture so many memories!

March 5 - 7

As I was doing some research on happiness, I came across an article called 10 Things Science Says Will May You Happy! As I read it, I thought, “Wow, that goes along with what the Bible says!” So here I have compiled only a small number of the Bible texts that go along with those 10 things that science says will make you happy!

Smile - Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you; He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing." Just imagine God singing you a lullaby, as he is looking into your eyes smiling, and you smile back!
Make Friends – Proverbs 18:24 “A man who has friends must himself be friendly.
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Avoid Comparisons – Colossians 3:13, ESV “Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
Hebrews 13:5, KJV, “Let your conversation be without coveteousness; and be content with such things as ye have...”
Express Thankfulness – Ephesians 5:20, ESV “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Exercise!  - Proverbs 24:5, ESV, “A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might.”
Devalue Money 1 Timothy 6:10, ESV, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”
Give Something Away – Acts 20:35, ESV, “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Have Goals – Philippians 3:13-14, ESV, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the  the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Take The Initiative - Mark 10:17-31, ESV, “And as He was setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments; ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” And He said to him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Savor The Everyday! – Stop, look, listen. Take time to smell the roses, take a deep breath and enjoy those ordinary and pleasant moments of each day. I might add another thought to Savor is the moment that Jesus gave His life for ours. What love!
1 Corinthians 1:18, NKJV, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Romans 5:8, NKJV, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,, Christ died for us."
Now that is a moment to savor, don't you think?

Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.      Yesterday’s sunshine! You wouldn’t believe that last week was so beautiful, with all the cold, wind, rain sleet and snow are having.
2.      A bird feeder for the birds to enjoy! They seem to really enjoy it today.
3.      A new little calf next door! It was the first thing I noticed as I drove down the lane on the way home from a very busy night of work!
4.      In spite of the cold, I was able to plant peas outside.
5.    Tomato and pepper plants started inside, before a walk with Ron!

March 4, 2012 ~
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasues on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." ~Matthew 6:19-20, NKJV

What  a busy day I have had! Peter and Candice came over and helped put the much needed roof back on the greenhouse! Hopefully it will be a long time before the wind comes and takes it off again. Better yet, never! After that we all worked at pulling the old rusty well pipes, from years ago, across the field to where he proceeded to saw them up to fit in his truck. Last, but not least, they loaded up the old kitchen stove and hauled it all away!
In life I accumulate so much I don’t need. It’s like old habits and negative thought patterns that I keep around, all the while I know they are not good for me. I think maybe I need to take inventory right now, and not wait for years to rid myself of the clutter, like I did with the pipes.

Happiness For A Reason Reasons:
1.       It is mother’s birthday today!
2.       Memories of yesterdays surprise birthday party.  Well, it was suppose to be a surprise anyway.
3.       Peter and Candice came over today and helped put the roof back on the green house! (I don’t know why we call it a green house when it is actually white. Hopefully what grows on the inside will be green with a lot of red things hanging on them!
4.       The roof is on, thanks to Ron, Peter and Candice!
5.       Peter and Candice cut up and hauled away all the old pipes, wires and old pump from our well! Then to top it off they hauled away our old stove! I’m a happy Mommy! Thanks for the help!
