As I was doing some research on
happiness, I came across an article called 10 Things Science Says Will May You
Happy! As I read it, I thought, “Wow, that goes along with what the Bible says!”
So here I have compiled only a small number of the Bible texts that go along
with those 10 things that science says will make you happy!
Smile - Zephaniah
3:17 "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take
great delight in you; He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you
with singing." Just imagine God singing you a lullaby, as he is looking
into your eyes smiling, and you smile back!
Make Friends – Proverbs 18:24 “A man who
has friends must himself be friendly.
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Express Thankfulness
– Ephesians 5:20, ESV “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the
Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Exercise!
-
Proverbs 24:5, ESV, “A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge
enhances his might.”
Devalue Money
– 1 Timothy 6:10, ESV, “For the
love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that
some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”
Give Something Away
–
Acts 20:35, ESV, “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this
way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He
Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Have Goals – Philippians 3:13-14,
ESV, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I
do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I
press on toward the goal for the prize of the
the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Take The
Initiative - Mark 10:17-31, ESV, “And as He was
setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, “Good
Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why
do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the
commandments; ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear
false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” And He said to
him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give
to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Savor The Everyday! –
Stop, look, listen. Take time to smell the roses, take a deep breath and enjoy
those ordinary and pleasant moments of each day. I might add another thought to
Savor is the moment that Jesus gave His life for ours. What love!
1 Corinthians 1:18, NKJV, “For the
message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who
are being saved it is the power of God.”
Romans 5:8, NKJV, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,, Christ died for us."
Now that is a moment to savor, don't you think?
1.
Yesterday’s sunshine! You wouldn’t
believe that last week was so beautiful, with all the cold, wind, rain sleet
and snow are having.
2.
A bird feeder for the birds to
enjoy! They seem to really enjoy it today.
3.
A new little calf next door! It was
the first thing I noticed as I drove down the lane on the way home from a very
busy night of work!
4.
In spite of the cold, I was able to
plant peas outside.
5. Tomato and pepper plants started inside, before a walk with Ron!
