September 4

September 4, 2011~
Today as I begin my day, my thoughts go back to Nathan’s 2nd birthday! What fun he had opening all his presents!  And now twenty plus years later, Happy Birthday to you! May your day filled with blessings! I love you! ~Mom
Judy and I were ready for a great hike! Destination Siouxon Creek! Only problem was the road was washed out. Now, where to go? Realizing that we were not that far from Mount St. Helens, we thought we’d give it a try. Great decision! I’ll let the pictures speak for them sleves!
Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       Nathan’s birthday!
2.       Sometimes the best laid plans don’t work out, but in the end, it works out better than the original plans would have.
3.       A wonderful hike with Judy!
4.       Judy’s funny dog, Oriel! The minute I get there she comes running, crying, and jumps in the car, ready for a hike!
5.       The awesome beauty of God’s great creation.

September 3, 2011 ~
The early morning east wind is blowing as I stand on the front porch looking towards Mount Hood. The breeze feels wonderful! It is the perfect temperature and it is only seven in the morning. That can only mean one thing, 90 plus weather by afternoon! Oh dear…. I guess I better enjoy it while it lasts! I think it is going to be the perfect day for a hike to a waterfall, on Mount Hood. One of the hikes we had talked about doing was out because of a fire. Looks like no hiking on the trail around the mountain until the rains come and puts the fire out as well as lowering the risk of fires.
Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       The beauty of the early morning sunrise!
2.       The relaxing, early morning breeze, and the sounds of the birds sing their morning songs.
3.       A great place to escape to so I can avoid the soaring temperatures.
4.       A wonderful time hiking with Ron and his brother Paul!
5.       The beauty we found at the end of the trail!

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”   ~John 14:1-3, NIV

Moving Day! Not for me, but for Juanita and Clarissa. They are downsizing, so with help from Derik, Levis, Jim and Becky, it is done! And I cannot believe that I did not take even one picture!
What a chore moving can be. Actually, today it wasn’t so bad. Clarissa had done an awful lot to get packed and organized so that when the help arrived, it could be done quickly. The moving day that I’m looking forward to I won’t need to pack a thing!  It is already prepared for me!
Happy For A Reason Reasons:
1.       Got the girls all moved! Made for a very busy day.
2.       Help from Jim, Becky, Derik, and Levis. Could not have done it without their help!
3.       Jim and Becky helped move Juanita’s car, that would not run on its own!
4.       Even had the time for a mile walk with Ron before dark!
5.       Ahh….it is time for bed and am I ever ready for a good nights sleep!

Prayer Request

Please pray for my dear friend Dannielle, who is going through her second set of chemo treatments for  cancer. Her second set of chemo starts today. The first set was very hard on her and she was very sick for five days. Please pray for her and her family to have strength and courage as they go through this trial.

Two Lost Souls

After losing his parents, this 3 year old orangutan was so depressed he wouldn't eat and didn't respond to any medical treatments. The veterinarians thought he would surely die from sadness.
The zoo keepers found an old sick dog on the grounds in the park at the zoo where the orangutan lived and took the dog to the animal treatment center. The dog arrived at the same time the orangutan was there being treated..
The 2 lost souls met and have been inseparable ever since.
The orangutan found a new reason to live and each always tries his best to be a good companion to his new found friend.
They are together 24 hours a day in all their activities.

They live in Northern California where swimming is their favorite past time, although Roscoe (the orangutan)
is a little afraid of the water and needs his friend's help to swim.

Together they have discovered the joy and laughter in life and the value of friendship..

They have found more than a friendly shoulder to lean on.

Long Live Friendship!!!!!!!
I don't know... some say life is too short, others say it is too long,
but I know that nothing that we do makes sense if we don't touch the hearts of others... while it lasts!

May you always have Love to Share, Health to Spare, And Friends who Care. ~Author Unknown
~*~ This was sent to me by my dear friend, Dottie. Thanks for sharing! ~*~

Happy For A Reason Reasons:

1.       Animals to love.

2.       Lessons I can learn from them.

3.       People who care!

4.       Family to love!

5.       Only 13 more days until I leave for Tennessee!

“If  you don't think every day is a good day, just try missing one.” ~Cavett Robert

So who is this Cavett Robert? Well, as it turns out, his story was very interesting to me. He was a man that changed professions multiple times over his life time. One of those times was after the age of 60. What really interested me was his burning desire to help others succeed.
And now I'm   off to have one of those good days, which begins with my Happy For A Reason   reasons!

Happy For A Reason reasons:
1.       Tears, just think about it. Having dry eyes would be so uncomfortable!
2.      While on that thought, how about saliva? Yes! Without saliva swallowing food, not to mention the digestion of food would be a bit more difficult.
3.      Now, that got me thinking about honey.  I better not say why, because someone might read this and never want to eat honey again.  But   then again, to aleviate confusion, honey is just bee saliva. Pretty  tasty I might add! I think my favorite is Orange Bloosom honey, on a nice   warm slice of homemade bread!
4.      Bees! How else would the pollination of our fruit trees, flowers, and vegetables happen. I don’t think it would be a job I’d want. …Thank you Father, for think about this!
5.      Top of the list my Father in Heaven, who thinks about every little detail and doesn’t miss a one!  If He did miss one, I’d have a problem, just the same as I would if I missed one day!

August 30

August 30, 2011 ~

“Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway.” ~Emory Austin

There are times I just don’t feel like singing. Yet, I know that is what I need to do. Once I get started, there is no stopping me. It is always amazing to me how this little exercise can make the difference between a day filled with a sad heart or one filled with a happy heart!

“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.” ~Anthony J. D'Angelo, The College Blue Book

Happy For A Reason reasons:

1.       A cool refreshing sprinkle this morning.
2.      The moisture, though just a small amount was enough to clear the air.
3.      Wet the dusty lane down so the passing cars don’t through dust clouds my way.
4.      I don’t have to water the outside gardens today!
5.      It is the early rains that help the plants to grow and be ready for harvest before the freezing frost arrives.
