March 14

March 14, 2011~
And then…Eighteen hours later…waw-law, there is electricy, shortly followed by working phones! Last night it took 1 ½ hours to get to work, usually only 35-40 min. I’d go one way and find the roads were closed, turn around, and try another. It seemed so odd to be headed away from work yet knowing that might be my only way to get to work and sure enough, it was the only way. Ron made it to within 2 minutes from home only to be turned back and have to find another way home. After sliding into the ditch, when he had to turn around, a nice volunteer pulled him out, he arrived home 1 ½ hour later! Enough said, I think I can easily make out my Happy For A Reason reason’s:

1.       Candles, for light in the dark and heat for warming hands during the day! It was a bit cold this morning in our house!
2.       Electricity, which produces, heat, running water, lights, and so much more!
3.       The men and women who spent a very cold, wet night while they triaged the roads, cleared downed trees, poles, and wires from the roads, fixed downed power lines, replacing power poles that were sheared off from high winds, and keeping people safe in general. Yes, a special thank you to the County Deputies, 911 dispatch workers, Firemen, Paramedics, PGE line men and those manning the phones, ODOT workers, and the many volunteers who got out their chainsaws.
4.       A nice person behind Ron, who was willing to pull him out of the ditch. Too much rain makes for very soft slippery shoulders along the road!
5.       Neither, Ron, Juanita, or I had a tree fall on us while we were out and about! Not everyone was so fortunate in our area.
I realize that the weather conditions we had here in the last 24 hours is nothing compared to what the people in Japan are experiencing, with the earthquake damage and then tsunami. My prayers are with all the people affected by the damage done due to the tsunami in Japan.
I am only one, but I am one.  I cannot do everything, but I can do something.  And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.  ~Edward Everett Hale

March 13

March 13, 2011~
There are sometimes when one doesn’t feel well. This was one of those days, yet, I had to work anyway. When I got to work …what a zoo… the program that we use to track orders and patients was down. Next,  our other program for admitting patients  went down for several hours… I could not just put up a sign to say, closed. In fact, at that point,  I got the busiest. Through it all, I was amazed at how well, things ran, how great all the different co-workers handled and dealt with each situation and circumstance. Not to mention, it sure helped to add a large number of steps on my pedometer! No problem getting the miles in for yesterday!
Happy For A Reason reason’s:
1.       Not feeling well…makes me appreciate good health. Not something to take for granted. Also, a reminder to me that even though I don’t feel like doing something, there is a time that I need to set self aside and get in and get done what needs to be done!
2.       What an amazing group of people I work with! From the top to the bottom, CEO all the way down to the janitors. All working together to serve our clientele. (I mention the CEO, because he came in and was actually being a foot soldier with the rest of us!)
3.       I logged the most steps in one day, since I got my pedometer! (And most of those steps were while I was at work….I think that says something about how busy we were last night!)
4.       Electricity! Not something I have at this very moment….
5.       A warm, dry house which protects me from the furry of the storm that just hit our area, with pounding rain, and fierce wind which is blowing the rain sideways.
How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.  ~Anne Frank

March 12

March 12, 2011~
I do believe that spring is here! When I went for a walk today, I decided that it was time to go the direction I haven’t walked in quiet some time. As I was walking back on the other side of the road, what did I find but three tulips trying to bloom alongside the road! Yes, even though spring isn’t officially here until March 21st, the tulips tell me otherwise. I love to watch the earth come alive with new growth every spring. That is just what God wants to do in my life!
Happy For A Reason reason’s:
1.    The signs of the arrival of spring!
2.    A bigger variety of birds around compared to a week ago.
3.    Less than a week before I will be with my youngest son!
4.    I am living on the Edge of Eternity!
5.       Time change. Hmm…I worked last fall when the time changed. That was the longest hour I had ever worked. What a strange feeling to reach 2:00 am, only to see the clock rewind, and having to work the hour over again. Now tonight I get to work the shortest hour I’ve ever worked!  So, what am I happy about here? It just brings my mind back to the one thing that never changes, God! He is always the same. I can always count on Him.

“For I am the Lord, I change not…” Malachi 3:6

March 11

March 11, 2011~
Oh, how the sun has felt so good as it has been shining through the windows. What a beautiful day this has turned out to be. The mountain has come out from behind the clouds, a rainbow appeared, the birds have been singing, and the frogs are even now singing their spring songs!
Happy For A Reason reason’s:
1.    A gorgeous day on my day off!
2.    Time to run into town to get several errands accomplished, unhurried.
3.    I could make some granola to take with me when I see my youngest son!
4.    A two mile walk, with Ron at sunset.
5.    The sound of frogs in the late afternoon and evening.

It must be rainbow season! I’ve always loved seeing the rainbows, sometimes bright, sometimes faint, sometimes single, double and one time triple! Never do I see one without my mind being directed back to its creator and His promises.
God's Rainbows
Rainbows appear after mighty storms,
When things look their very worst.
Just when skies are darkest gray,
Look for the rainbow first.
The rainbow is a sign of God's promise,
That He will guide us through any storm.
That He will see us through all our troubles,
No matter what their form.
When you feel battered by Life's storms,
And you are filled with doubt and dismay,
Just remember God's rainbow will come,
For it's only a prayer away.
Unknown
Happy For A Reason reason’s:
1.    Yet another rainbow!
2.    Peter showing me how to Prune the grapes.
3.    One fourth of the way finished pruning my grape vines! Now I understand more fully the examples that Jesus used in the New Testament about the vineyard and the vines.
4.    Sleep! Something I really needed today!
5.    Kind words! How they can help lift ones spirit!
“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”

March 9

March 9, 2010 ~
Today, I realize that it isn’t just the external “things” that I can be happy about, but also the things I am. I am so grateful to God for who I am, and who I am still becoming because of His love and working in my life. It is here where I’ll start my Happy For A Reason reason’s:
1.       I’m a child of God.
2.       I’m a wife.
3.       I am an employee of a corporation whose mission is to demonstrate the human expression of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.    A passion of mine.
4.       I’m an encourager.
5.       I’m full of hope!
Never, never, no never let go of hope! “One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself… How did I get through all that?”
“Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark.” ~George Iles
What does hope mean to me?
Hope is the light that comes each morning at dawn, to keep the darkness at bay.  It is the soft cool breeze on a blistering hot day. It is what helps me hang on, when the going gets demanding and difficult.
Hope is my dreaming of a better tomorrow when sorrows abound. It is the glistening of the tears in my eyes as I dream of the beautiful things that are yet to be.
Hope is lighter than a feather, always lifting me up and keeping me going.  It can be found anywhere and the cost is free. Yes, it is a choice.
As long as there is life hope never has to die!

March 8

March 8, 2011~
Yesterday was sunny, today is cloudy and misty. Just an atypical day for this time of the year!
I dare say that the rain is needed. That is why it stays so green around here most of the year! Today it is a reminder of all the love that God rains down on me! Everywhere I turn, everywhere I look, if I just slow down, take the time to look and listen, He is there!
            Happy for A Reason reason’s:
1.    Rain….isn’t that what makes it so pretty here in the spring!
2.    Spring…it is just around the corner!
3.    Budding Trees….oh, the beauty that will soon be here!
4.    Flowers…the first flowers of spring, shared with me from a friends garden!
5.    Friends….the human flowers, who brighten up my life by the little things they do to show that they care!
